SparkTech Workplace Health and Safety Portal
At SparkTech, the safety and well-being of our employees and customers are paramount. As a Western Australian-owned and operated company, we adhere strictly to the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2020 (WA) and the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 (WA), collectively known as the WA WHS laws.
These laws are regulated by WorkSafe WA, a division of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, which ensures that businesses like GadgetNest comply with all health and safety requirements. Breaches of these laws can result in significant penalties, including fines, business closure, and even imprisonment.
WHS laws are designed to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for everyone. Every worker in Australia has the legal right to expect a safe workplace, and it is the responsibility of employers and business owners to ensure these safety measures are in place. GadgetNest is committed to maintaining these high standards, recognising that a safe workplace not only protects employees and customers but also drives business success.
Our safety policies reflect a commitment to reduce risks, promote employee well-being, and meet the requirements of both the WHS Act and WorkSafe WA guidelines.
What's the difference between an Act and a Regulation?
Acts are legislation passed by the Parliament. They cover broad principles.
Regulations, Rules and Codes are the guidelines and details that show how the Act is applied.

Purpose of a WHS policy:
WHS Policy is a written document that outlines how an organisation intends to fulfill its commitment to workplace health and safety - in practice it contains details of principles, objectives, and commitments to that effect. Additionally, it serves as a selling point for companies by highlighting the health and safety benefits and opportunities they offer to employees.
WHS Policies spell out:
Your endgame captured succinctly as your organisation’s WHS goal or aim. For example: “As an organisation, our goal is to prevent work-related injuries below industry average”.
What you expect from your employees
A statement reiterating your commitment to workplace equality and fairness.
Decision making guidelines in everyday situations
Communication framework that clarify chain of information sharing
A structure that outlines how duty is delegated. This should include the day-to-day roles of managers, supervisors, and management staff to manage WHS.
Standard operating procedures for handling workplace complaints and misunderstanding.
Commitment to risk reduction, safe environment, safe equipment, and safe structures. Furthermore, your commitment should include provision of proper facilities, work systems, and cater to continuous capacity building.
